We’ll keep this pretty simple.
We’re a group of local amateurs who are passionate about helping others and furthering the interest.
We share a common like for new modes, new tech, and most of all, helping others with no strings attached. It’s a group of people, not a club. No committees, no minutes, just a group of mates having fun.
This site was set up to be a place for sharing information, not just for Wellington, and to provide the first MMDVM Repeater for all amateurs in the central Wellington area.
Around a table one afternoon, a group of amateur friends discussed helping others, and wanting to help new amateurs who are just starting their journey into the hobby.
With the seed set, the group started looking at new and emerging technologies and what was being done elsewhere. From there, ideas grow, and they continue to grow, with an MMDVM Repeater for all amateurs to use being the first steop in the journey.
More information and developments will come, but we're keen to support all amateurs on their radio communication journey.
Our MMDVM network has been set up and is run by us, amateurs, and the costs to set up and keep the network running are paid for by the admins themselves. If you'd like to support the network, you can get in touch to chat about how you can help. If you would like to donate, you can donate as much as you like, and you can even sponsor a gateway meaning a new site could be set up for a wider coverage area!
Due to the hilly nature of Te Whanganui-a-Tara, one site to cover the entire region isn't possible. To get around this, there are a number of gateways available for use and all you need to go is use the one providing coverage where you are! In some places there is an overlap in coverage, so choose whichever you feel. As each gateway runs on a different frequency from another, you may need to change channel for the best coverage for you, especially if you are driving.
